December 28th, 2023 New Jersey/Delaware Bay Fishing Report with Jim Hutchinson, Jr.

In our final weekly video segment of 2023, another behemoth blackfish estimated at 20 pounds is caught and released over the Christmas weekend, while a Boxing Day trip on Tuesday out of Barnegat Inlet shows the striped bass may have thinned out but they’re certainly not gone. In fact, reports out of Central Jersey this week show that striped bass winter-over locations are beginning to fill up before the January 1, 2024 back bay restrictions in New Jersey. In a quick look at weekend action, we also review some of the changes in 2023 including PFD requirements and the striper slot (5:40), potential for a winter porgy fishery (7:20) in ’24, a new addition to the weekly Fisherman lineup (9:15) and a relatively new event in Wildwood (11:35). White perch (12:50) is the next saltwater fishery up, George has your weekly report from the Poconos (15:04) and a look back at ’23 (16:20) at striped bass, state records, significant losses and a glass that’s half-full heading into the New Year.

  1. these people are getting crazy jim. i love eating fish striper being my favorite and they got me feeling like a dirt bag when i only keep one bass a season. i dont know who to believe. i hear their paying protesters and crazy stuff like that. i feel like defending myself to these people is becoming a liability

  2. Really Great the powers to be at the Fisherman’s magazine have brought in a very talented young lady who really should broaden the readership of the Fishermans magazine!! You Go Miss Jen ??
