Can the Battleship load up more ammo when it moves out into salt water?
I fell off the deck during a tour of the the New Jersey and when I popped back to the surface Ryan was laughing and eating a sandwich.
COMCRUDESGRU 5…… there is an art to reading Navy, lol. I always imagine a new sailor's confusion when he gets his 1st set of orders after bootcamp. BUPERS (Bureau of Personnel) orders are a mishmash of paragraphs and abbreviations and terms that have to be utterly confusing to a new sailor on his 1st PCS orders. I often wonder if there is some story somewhere about a lowly E-1 so confused by his BUPERS orders that he just gave up and went home.
Me I can't wait for dry dock. I want to see the hull below the waterline. But at the same time I really worried what condition she is in. I will cross everything that she is better than expected. Nothing can happen to that old lady.
So Wise , Thank You . A fine example of out continuing education. Indiana Jones would be Proud
Alphabet soup. COMCRUDESGRU 5 = Command Cruiser Destroyer Group #5
This is so beyond cool for a broken-down historian.
Admiral James T. Kirk
Oh wait a minute… ?
Could at least some of the differences between the blueprint and what is actually there have been done by the crew of the USS New Jersey (on orders from the embarked admiral?
OK, going old school here, my favourite
Admiral on BB-62, has to be Bull Halsey.
steve
Wouldn't the captain of a ship know everything, every single little thing, about his own ship? Every little nook and cranny, every little bump and odd sound, every smell and vibration?
Bull Halsey was my favorite…just because of the nickname.
Nimitz' flagship in Tokyo Bay!
The way you say "Missourah" instead of "Missouri" you'd fit right in in the midwest.
Halsey is my favorite because from what I’ve read he had to come on board dad’s ship in WW2,Shangr La, and kick some ass. There was some kind of fall out between Mitchscer and McCain ??? or another Admiral. I don’t remember detail.
Ryan, after drydock of the ship, where will you be making your videos at?
A BlugRuhSchmooYargh to you
Halsey is the favorite commander… of course! Just the idea that he could have had a front row seat of the action of task force 34 under the tactical command of his subordinate Willis Lee as the Center Force emerged from San Bernadino Straight, puts him at the top of the list.
Ah, yes, the "long-lead" items of battleship life: guns, engines, and admiral's memoires…
BZ dude
Admiral Halsey of course.
The real question. What book is the Admiral reading in the pic at 1:08?
It is great that you have the living resources and they are willing to help you out when needed.
Ryan of the Battleship USS New Jersey (BB-62) Museum and Memorial- Is Stillwell's second edition going to be available on Kindle or not?
Not an admiral but Ronald Regans short visit to Iowa celebrating the 4th of July in 1986 screams Americana.
Question for a obscure question vid. The phone and table lamp at time 715, is there an outlet in the floor or does the wiring run under the rug. Also, if through the floor, how about a pic of the deck below.
Like my own children, I have no favorites! I love them all.
Awesome videos Adam! Thanks to you and your team!?
How many staff does an admiral bring on board?
