The New Jersey Devils have fired Lindy Ruff and named Travis Green as their interim head coach.

Great Video, as usual, Gio. I'm of the opinion that it's not that Lindy was a bad coach, but, it seems that it's ironic that he's the one who gets fired at near the same time that GM Tom Fitzgerald gets a renewal of his contract, especially given the fact that the moves that he's made have made The NJ Devils a poorer team (Tiffoli, Meire, Palat & maybe some of the other moves). Moreover, with Dougie Hamilton out too, it's not that Lindy Ruff had the good Blueline that he had in years past. Let me know what you think
As someone who watched Lindy Ruff as a player and his time in Buffalo. His coaching style depends an awful lot on the strength of his goalies. I think that a GM should only be able to fire the coach once so this sounds more like a GM problem then a coaching issue.
Just as a heads up, that was approx 11 games, where NJD didn't have J Hughes in the lineup, right.
Lines in a blender.. gotta work hard and work to next game.. sounds.. familiar. Thats exactly how the devils have been. I like Ruff. But something bad to give. A lot of the blame is on Fitzgerald too. He didn't do anything to give his coach a better chance. I really hope he does everything he can ro convince Gronberg to come over to the US and coach this team. He has an interesting coaching profile.

Green isn't going to turn this team around when the defense and goaltending is still an issue. Ruff lost the team and wasn't having much of any impact on them anymore when they hit the ice, which you could see with how many times they would just get deflated whenever they faced adversity in the last couple dozen games, in particular. Ruff's firing is more a matter of showing the fans that Fitzgerald is trying to do something to fix the Devils issues, but ultimately, it's going to be more of the same. I can't see Green getting the permanent job, though. And as a Devils fan, this isn't something that makes me happy or bring any relief. But it is what it is and now they just have to hope that they can find the right head coach in the offseason, along with finding a shutdown defenseman and a top tier goalie. Fingers are crossed.

I feel for Lindy sad to see a good coach and person loose their job. However I wouldn't mind seeing him coach my Sens.
Green as interim is fine. The moment the season ends, cash him out and find a real coach.

An inexperienced defense that no one is going to win with. A pretty soft team, too. Poor goaltending was the coup de gras.

I know a lot of fellow devils fans are relieved, but it honestly sucks this season has come to this. We’ll see what Green can do for the next few months. I wouldn’t mind at all if they signed Berube in the off season.
