When you said 'surviving silver' does that mean some pieces have been lost or destroyed or do you think you have the full set accounted for but not 100% certainty and are just covering your bases?
Jones Melissa Brown Donald Garcia Margaret
Battleship New Jersey is her name. Other names that i think are cool but wouldnt accept are "USS Gettysburg" "USS Poseidon" or "USS Independence"
Gonzalez Edward Young Cynthia Hall Maria
Very interesting!
Gonzalez Linda Moore Jeffrey Clark Richard
Young Brenda Williams Michelle Martin Lisa
USS Black Dragon
Was it that the sub commander said something along the lines of "more members of my crew have done legacy tours than i have crew members" since theres only around 130-140 crew members on the Virginia class subs?
Its not like their isn't a shortage of names to call a sub this is stupid

Rumor has it that Adm Rickover was asked what he thought about submarines not being named after fish. His response was that "fish don't vote". I personally feel that each submarine should possess a fish's name in addition to the city/state/politician name. This would certainly alleviate the issue of having two active ships with the same name. Ie. USS New Jersey / (insert fish name) SSN796. Ryan, you've said before that the Navy doesn't let progress get in the way of tradition, apparently in naming submarines they did. There are plenty of WWII submarines, that, to quote The History Guy, "Deserve to be Remembered"
God Bless the USS NEW JERSEY and all who sail on/in her.
White Laura Gonzalez Edward Young Melissa
I vote we call the sub NEW New Jersey.
The secret information that he didn't share is that the teak that the museum gave to the new sub will be used to test a new, environmentally-friendly anechoic tile. It'll be the first submarine in decades with a wooden deck. Source: I made it up.
USS James J Braddock. ?
This is so awesome, the Plank owners of SSN New Jersey will be so proud of the connection.
Anderson Mary Williams Michael Lewis Jason
Seems simple enough to me to differentiate between the two
USS New Jersey SSN-796
Battleship New Jersey BB-62
There were two Kersarges active at the same time in WWII.
Garcia Carol Miller Ruth Thompson Susan
Yep, they did that with USS Arkansas BM-7, one of the last Monitors built. She was renamed Ozark and used as a sub tender as I recall.
We had the WWII cruiser Tucson silver on the 770, also CGN 36, we had BB CALI silver, decommed some went to the SSN
if it would be called up the name USS Old Jersey has a nice sound to it
Why does the new USS New Jersey don’t have torpedoes? They have missiles, but they don’t have torpedoes?
STATE OF NEW JERSEY SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY OF THE SILVERI IN GOVERNORS HOUSE. HOW THE HECK CAN THE NORMAL NJ PERSON GET TO SEE THE SILVER ???????????? THIS IS WRONG
my brother dr. gene simko .Monmouth univ..and captain Joe azzolina brought the battleship back from Bremerton ..they would have been so proud to see another ship named after our great state..
Hey Ryan, did you all make name plates for the plankowners of the New New Jersey out of the teakwood?
In this specific case, if BB-62 were ever recommissioned, the Navy could always call BB-62 South Jersey, and SSN-796 North Jersey.
I mean, the solution for reactivation could be pretty simple. You have a NEW New Jersey and a New Jersey, Constellation and Constitution didn't have an advantage baked right into their names. "New Jersey SSN-796" and "Jersey BB-62". It is impolite to suggest a Lady's age.
Which Iowa class would be first up for reactivation?
USS Jersey Shore? 😎😇😂
