JERSEY Channel Islands – A local showed me the island

Hi everyone! In this vlog, I explore more of Jersey, one of the Channel Islands.

I start off with a visit to the bus station in St Helier (or Saint Helier), the capital, where I take a bus to Gorey, a small fishing village in the east of the island that features the stunning Mont Orgueil Castle.

I meet up with David, a friend of a work colleague whom I’ve never met before. David lives on the island of Jersey and we were originally meant to explore Gorey. Instead, David takes me on a surprise wider island tour that exceeded any expectations I may have had.

I won’t spoil all the surprises, but the tour includes Rozel, Bouley Bay and Grosnez Castle, as well as visits to various sites featuring old German naval buildings, gun emplacements etc. And, of course, a few more interesting locations 🙂

David also has a few interesting stories of the island that he shares with us in this vlog!

Finally, apologies for the poor sound quality in some parts due to the wind – hopefully the magnificent scenery makes up for this!

  1. I'd love to spent the rest of my life on this place. Once i visited jersey with my 7 year old daughter. It was such a wonderful time and i felt very lucky and safe…… we visited durrel zoo, lavenderfarm…., we went swimming indoor in st. Helier, visited the museum in st. Helier which was very stunning, we put our feet into a fish spaa at the mall😂, we bought a doll named miss polly, i bought a jersey dress, we loved to eat strawberry cupcakes and sandwitches.
I was the best time we had……. so lovely place….❤

  2. Hello sir, willy, I would like to know why you don't make a video of monastir, tunisia, and zeramdine? Thank you and I would like to watch some of those videos. I mean, I always watch your videos. thank you

  3. Hey my friend! Another great video! I live in Jersey, in Gorey – 2 minutes up the hill from the harbour. It's a lovely part of the island. David showed you a very beautiful part of the island (Rozel) @11:23 – the white painted house on the left (with the granite wall and the white iron fence) is my ex-boss' partner's property. The botanical gardens on the steep hills to the right are his property/gardens in the valley. The small outbuilding to the right – is now used as a workshop and I believe used to be storage for fishermen back in the day. I used to manage the Garden Centre my ex-boss owns and have been to Rozel many times to deliver plants and trees to his gardens. The Chateau La Chaire hotel, immediately to the left and up the slope, after his house, was occupied by the Germans in WWII during the occupation of Jersey. The Germans were fascinated by the shrubs in the grounds of the hotel, the likes of which they had never seen before! The Germans planned to uproot them and export them back to Germany. The gardener at the time was much against this and he was so adamant to not let the Germans take them, he regularly urinated on the soil around the said shrubs, so they eventually died! I did not realise that you were still in Jersey after watching your first video, otherwise I would have been more than happy to take you for an island tour! Maybe next time 🙂

  4. What a legend David is for showing you around! Some great historical sites on Jersey, you'd have been very hard pressed to see all of that without a guide. You stayed in the same hotel I used to when I was cabin crew, used to love the beds at that Radisson Blu 😆 cheers!
