  1. My suggestion for a figure would be a painted Plenty pushing a plow. The plow's share, the front part , would follow the lead edge of the bow from 6 feet above the waterline to 2 feet below the waterline (62). While underway it would look like it was plowing through the water.

  2. I was there when Greg Powsland carved the ship Balclutha's replica figurehead. The original is stored in secure storage. The original does no have the name of a person. Nice job Ryan! TM retired but still interested in ship carving

  3. I cannot remember which ship. A cruise liner: German; mid-thirties or? This particular ship was given a "figurehead." Why, to increase its length making it the longest ship to win the "Blue Ribbon"?

  4. Easy, look at the Great White Fleet.
    The American Eagle.

Now, think what would have happend, if the NS Savannah was turned into a ammunition's supply ship?
Especially if she was also give the looks of the Great White Fleet?

Would also make for a great peace time color looks, I would say.

  5. I would see the Statue of Liberty reaching forward with a sword in her hand instead of the torch holding the Constitution and her other hand and dressed in some type of simple armor to protect her and polished like a silver dollar!

  6. what still in commission warship, the one and only USCGC Eagle, as for New Jersey.. in service it should be a Bald Eagle, for now as a Museum, why it should be a bust of her glorious Curator .
