the first earthquake was like 15 seconds and , I heard a horrendous rocky loud sound like rocks breaking aparts, the third one last like 5 seconds but I heard a weird sound that continued for few minutes after the earthquake. I was on the phone with my sister and she also was hearing that weird noise

NYC doesn't have major faultlines, no, but there ARE faultlines in NYC, most of which are crossing Manhattan Island, especially the big one at 125th street. They're already overdue for an earthquake along those faultlines.

I'm in Northern NJ and was in my basement when it happened. At first I thought it was the wind that usually passes quick and comes back. But house felt like it was vibrating a little bit. Nothing violent as to things falling off shelves But But this stayed the same for several minutes so I thought maybe a construction vehicles was outside since the road where I live leads to a highway. When I went outside, nothing. No trucks, semis and even the wind was'nt that strong. I thought it strange until I head the news of the earthquake on the radio. Funny thing I watch the movie 2012 just a few days ago on Netflix……..

Yo, what the hell is going on with this year?
I was in a classroom with my students on the 4th floor in a very large high school. I’ve experienced an earthquake before so I knew exactly what it was but when I saw the fear in their eyes I told them it’s probably the wind because the building is old. We were all shaken. The AP announced they are investigating what that was. About five minutes later (and a million texts confirming with friends and family we all felt that) he announced there was an earthquake. We are in Brooklyn. I told the kids if they felt shaking again to stay underneath the desks. They were shocked as was I. Earthquakes are not common here. Honestly feels like the end of times with all the catastrophes happening around the world. God bless everyone.
