The U.S. Democratic senator from New Jersey, Robert Menendez, 69, the son of Cuban immigrants, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman, & his wife for three years, Nadine Menendez, 56, were charged after a lengthy investigation by the FBI & federal prosecutors in Manhattan of New York City in New York State on 9/22/2023 with taking bribes of gold bullion bars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, a luxury car Mercedes-Benz C-300 convertible, hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, payments toward a home mortgage, & other valuable things in exchange for using his power to influence a wide range of corrupt schemes at home & abroad. The indictment said that Mr. Menendez's wife, Ms. Nadine, acted as a go-between, passing messages to an American-Egyptian businessman, Mr. Wael Hana, a U.S. citizen born in Egypt, 40, a longtime friend of Ms. Nadine before she began dating Senator Menendez. Mr. Hana maintained close connections with Egyptian military & intelligence officials to aim of increasing U.S. assistance to Egypt, sharing highly sensitive information about people assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Egypt, & taking other steps that secretly aided the government of Egypt. In 2019, Mr. Hana founded a halal meat certification business, the company IS EG Halal that began operating from a small building in Edgewater, New Jersey, owned by a company run by Mr. Fred Daibes, a U.S. citizen born in Palestinian refugee camps, 66, whom also has an office in the building. By Jan 2020, the Egyptian government had made the IS EG Halal company the sole entity authorized to certify halal meat imported to Egypt from anywhere in the world that had been prepared according to Islamic law; that arrangement did not require the approval of the U.S., according to the Department of Agriculture, which meant there're four U.S. based halal meat certification companies that for years had shared the work lost the business overnight. So in Nov 2019, FBI agents searched Mr. Hana's home & office, seizing computers, cellphones, paperwork, & jewelry. Also, Mr. Menendez used his position to influence criminal investigations of two other New Jersey businessmen, one of whom was a longtime fund-raiser for him, Mr. Fred Daibes, who's a New Jersey real estate developer & fund-raiser for Mr. Menendez, worked his way up from washing dishes in a New Jersey restaurant to acquiring wealth so vast millions of dollars & jewelry worth millions. However, he was charged with bank fraud, & in January, he finalized a $45 million shared-ownership agreement for the Edgewater project with a company founded by a member of Qatar's royal family.
I'm absolutely against bribery & corruption, but how come Arab countries such as poor Egypt & mini-Qatar dare to bribe the U.S. Democratic Senator from New Jersey, Mr.
Robert Menendez, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, unless they believe in safe consequences or are confident that the U.S.A. has become weak & lost its prestige?! This might be a suspicious conspiracy against the U.S.A. to corrupt U.S. politicians & the U.S. democracy image distortion; on the other hand, I'm very concerned this case may represent just an iceberg phenomenon model and bribery & corruption already have spread out throughout the U.S. government entities?!
If this guy has been influcing courts and judges decidions up till now. Then he won't spend a day in jail. He knows who to bribe to stay out of jail.
